National 4-H Conference Center in D.C. Being Sold
USAgNet - 03/17/2021

The National 4-H Conference Center in Chevy Chase is up for sale, according to a posting from the commercial real estate company CBRE. The 12.28-acre site is one of the largest residential redevelopment properties in the area. No price is listed.

The conference center hosts meetings and events, and provides overnight accommodations in guest rooms. The building was constructed in 1893 as the Chevy Chase Inn before it became a women’s college in 1903 for the next 50 years, according to the description of the posting. Since then, the building has been owned by the National 4-H Council, a youth development organization.

Che conference center has been closed for the last year due to COVID-19 restrictions, and has been operating with fewer employees.

The National 4-H Council, in a statement to Bethesda Beat on Tuesday, wrote that the organization is selling the center “in order to continue our mission of expanding opportunity for all of America’s youth through increased investment and participation in 4-H positive youth development programs.”

The organization will maintain a presence in the greater Washington area by holding national events and building public-private partnerships, the statement continued.
